The Royal an Lochan Restaurant

The menu at the Royal an Lochan restaurant includes both traditional and speciality dishes such as our duck, chicken and beef dishes which are styled to make the most of seasonal vegetables. We also offers fresh seafood and diners can expect to see, depending on the season, a variety of fish, langoustine and scallops from Tarbert on our menus’ starter and main courses.
The restaurant is open every evening except Wednesdays between 5.00pm and 8.30pm. Booking in advance is always recommended (especially for larger numbers) to check availability. The restaurant with its stunning panoramic sea views across to the Isle of Bute is warm and inviting with artwork by Scottish artists. Stuart Herd and Anne Hewitt display some of their artwork on our walls providing a warm and vibrant ambience. On Wednesdays there are a number of other restaurant options close by and we are happy to arrange a booking. The Shinty Bar in Tighnabruaich serves a range of traditional home cooked bar meals using the freshest produce available to us. So why not pull up a barstool, have a pint with the locals and enjoy some hearty pub grub. Alternatively on a nice sunny day why not eat outside and watch the world and the yachts go by. Inside the bar there’s always a warm and friendly atmosphere (helped by our fantastic wood burner), the walls are adorned with photos of Kyles Athletic Shinty team, one of the best shinty teams in Scotland. The Royal an Lochan is a sponsor of the local team. The photos date back to 1901 and are displayed along with other shinty memorabilia.

Loch Fyne Oyster Bar

The Loch Fyne Oyster Bar is one of Scotland’s genuine gastronomic icons. We like to keep our menu simple with clean, unfussy textures and flavours, allowing the quality and freshness of the food to do the talking.
Led by talented Head Chef Calum Hall, our culinary team are dedicated to using only the freshest, finest ingredients sourced with provenance in mind.

Kyles of Bute Golf Club

Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty on the hill above Kames, the golf course offers truly panoramic views across the water to the Isle of Bute.
During the round there are other stunning aspects across Loch Fyne to the Mull of Kintyre, and south to the Ayrshire coast past Arran. The golf course has nine very intriguing holes, all quite different in design, requiring careful choice of both club and shot. Although there are no bunkers or traps, there are burns, patches of heather and gorse, and blind shots on two holes to keep everyone on their toes! There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the wildlife as the deer and numerous birds of prey can often be seen, and heard.

DC Marine

Welcome to DC Marine Boat Trips. We are a small business established in 2006 and the only locally owned and run boat trip operation in the Kyles of Bute. We operate the converted Motor Fishing Vessel Morag from the Pier in Tighnabruaich, Cowal Peninsula, Argyll.
Our trips cater for holidaymakers, friends of locals or people staying in the area and can be tailored to meet you and your family’s needs. There are regular set departures times or you can book to charter the whole boat for periods of one hour. The Morag can accommodate 10 passengers and the trips invariably capture the spectacular views of the area from the sea, and give fantastic close up opportunities to see seals, porpoises, and many sea birds that inhabit the Kyles of Bute. A commentary on local history and folklore is provided. Trips of over one hour include the opportunity to try your hand at fishing for Mackerel, Pollock, Saithe, Cod and Codling. All the necessary fishing gear is carried on board. Enthusiastic anglers can charter the boat purely for fishing expeditions and visit the best fishing grounds in the area.
